On Sunday we planted a White Oak and an Eastern Redbud seedlings, knowing that the time to plant trees to eventually replace the mature ones is now. White Oaks are the host plant to over 500 species of caterpillars, the most of any of our native trees, and are the most important tree in our ecosystem in many other ways besides.
